Through the generosity of volunteers and donors, First Choice for Women is able to offer free physical, mental, and spiritual support to empower individuals facing difficult relationship, pregnancy, and parenting decisions in the East Central Indiana Region. There are many ways you can support us on this mission, including volunteering, donating materials and supplies, or making a financial gift.

Volunteer

First Choice for Women Life Ambassador

First Choice Life Ambassadors are valuable leaders in the community who stand strongly for life and:

  • Link their church or organization with current ministry resources and materials

  • Inform others of ministry news and activities

  • Find friends and other church/organization members to support or volunteer

  • Encourage event participation

  • These key volunteers commit to one year in which they recruit others in their church and community to participate in the mission, communicate with staff through the mail, and email, and receive promotional material and other resources. They are equipped to serve as valuable representatives in Delaware and Madison counties and surrounding areas.

Prayer Partner

“Whatever you ask in My name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” John 14:23

Our prayer partners play a crucial role in the First Choice for Women ministry, please pray:

  • that our clients’ hearts would be open and receptive to hearing the gospel of the love of Jesus Christ

  • that God will speak through each of our Options Counseling volunteers to our abortion-vulnerable clients

  • for a sound, healthy, and strong financial foundation for First Choice

  • for more volunteers in all areas of our ministry

  • that the Creating Positive Relationships program will have a lasting effect on the hearts and minds of the young people in our community

Program Volunteer Opportunities

Pregnancy Options Counseling
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours weekly or bi-weekly

Volunteers work directly with clients assisting them with pregnancy tests, assessing their needs and making appropriate referrals. There are opportunities for evangelism and to offer prayer for clients. Volunteer coaches may also be ParentCare Mentors or receptionists. Training provided at First Choice for Women.

ParentCare Mentor
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours weekly or bi-weekly

ParentCare Mentors work one-to-one with pregnant and parenting clients. Mentors build relationships with clients by watching educational DVD’s together, going over worksheets completed by the client, listening to their concerns, and being a supportive friend. There are opportunities for evangelism and to offer prayer for clients. Training provided at First Choice for Women.

Creating Positive Relationships Education
Time Commitment: 5–10 hours possible per week

Provide information in a classroom setting to local students using an interactive curriculum that promotes a lifestyle choice of abstinence before marriage, resisting peer pressure, goal setting, and respecting one’s self as well as others. Training provided by First Choice for Women at the Creating Positive Relationships training center.

Receptionist
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours weekly or bi-weekly

Assist staff and volunteers with light office work, answering telephones, greeting and directing clients, assisting clients in our ParentCare Store. Training provided at First Choice for Women.

CareLine Telephone Volunteer
Time Commitment: 1 week per month

Volunteers answer our phones during the hours we are closed using a cell phone provide by First Choice for Women. Four individuals typically volunteer for one week each per month. Training provided at First Choice for Women.

Data Entry
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours monthly

Assist with the input of various client services information into our data base. Typically, four volunteers take one week’s worth of data entry each per month. Training will be provided at First Choice for Women.

Material Donation Maintenance
Time Commitment: flexible

Help meet the needs of our clients by enabling our ParentCare Store to be stocked with the necessities they need by sorting and washing baby and maternity clothes, cleaning shoes, toys, and other material donations regularly received at First Choice.

Building Maintenance
Time Commitment: flexible

Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of the building and grounds. Choose from an array of services, including: janitorial functions, lawn care, snow removal, building repairs and general maintenance. Groups are welcome.

Special Events
Time Commitment: as needed

Help make our special events special! Assist in various capacities at a number of different events hosted by First Choice for Women, including but not limited to: Sanctity of Human Life Sunday (January), Walk for Life (Spring) and the Annual Banquet (October). These events help raise awareness and the financial support needed to fund many of the services offered by First Choice for Women.

Material

Material Donations

First Choice for Women appreciates your generosity. First Choice currently needs these specific items:

  • Diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6

  • Baby wipes

  • Baby formula  (*especially Gerber brand)

In addition to our current needs, we regularly accept:

  • Diapers (especially sizes 3, 4 and 5)

  • Baby Wipes

  • New and gently used maternity clothes

  • New and gently use baby and toddler clothes up to size 5

  • Baby blankets, quilts and bedding

  • Baby shampoo, wash, lotions, etc.

  • Toiletries for mother’s (shampoo, body wash, etc.)

  • Toys

  • Pack ‘n Play units

  • New high chairs

  • Walkers

  • Strollers

  • New unopened baby cribs

  • New unopened car-seats

  • Other baby “equipment”*

*We do not accept used cribs, car seats, high chairs or breast pumps. First Choice is not permitted to accept used baby cribs or car-seats due to federally regulated safety guidelines.

Baby Showers

Have some fun and help someone!

Host a baby shower at work, at church or in your home. A First Choice for Women staff member will attend the shower and tell your guests about the ministry and the services we provide within the community. The shower gifts are a true blessing and bring joy to young families in need.

Donation

Financial Gifts

Thank you for choosing to help us to empower women in our community. Your donations—no matter how small—go a long way in helping us impact the lives of women and their children in East Central Indiana. For your convenience, there are several ways you can choose to give to First Choice for Women:

  • Monthly Donors: sign up to give $50, $25, or another dollar amount of your choice on a monthly basis

  • One-Time Gift: support a specific program or event with a one-time gift

  • Corporate Sponsors: become a corporate sponsor and get recognized in our quarterly newsletter and event materials

Bottles for Babies

A little change changes lives. Help First Choice raise funds through this fun campaign!

Participating is easy:

  • Pick start and end dates for your campaign (allowing 2-4 weeks in between).

  • Order baby bottles from First Choice for Women.

  • You can pick them up or we will deliver them to you.

  • Announce the fund-raiser through provided bulletin inserts/flyers

  • Distribute the empty bottles, fill them with coins, cash and checks, and return them. First Choice counts the change and tells you how much you raised!

Kroger Community Rewards

To designate First Choice for Women as your charity of choice in the Kroger Community Rewards Program visit the website, set up an account and enter number below when it asks you to enter a “NPO#” (non profit organization). When shopping at Kroger and using your Kroger Plus Card, you can give to First Choice. This program allows Kroger Plus members to designate First Choice to receive a percentage of what they spend at Kroger.

Choose Life License Plate

When you purchase a “Choose Life” license plate through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, a portion of the funds will be donated to First Choice for Women!
